According to CMSgt (Ret) Ken Hair, Executive Director of Children in Crisis, Inc., “There is a severe shortage of foster homes in our community and this problem was compounded by the fact that there was no emergency shelter for children removed from an unsafe environment. We recently opened the first two homes in the Children’s Neighborhood, the Susanna Wesley House emergency shelter and Blessings House foster home, which is the first of 12 planned for construction. The Children’s Neighborhood is located on Hurlburt Field Road in Ft. Walton Beach. The Children’s Neighborhood will help military and civilian children who are in need.”
Hair continued, “I’m very pleased and impressed that the membership of AFSA Chapter 554 and A554 took on the challenge to make a difference in the life of a child. This is the first time that both the AFSA Chapter and the Auxiliary have joined Kid’s club. A BIG THANKS to all who participated in the Bowl-A-Thon and helped the abused and neglected children of our community.”
Children in Crisis, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charity of caring people from the community.
